Fifty percent of Brazilian homes are headed by women. However, most of the unemployed people in Brazil are female. To add to that, the Federal Government of Jair Bolsonaro announced an increase in the minimum wage below the inflation rate recorded in 2021.
"Everything is too expensive. Every day we go to the supermarket we have a surprise; vegetables and fruits, another surprise; and let’s not talk about the meat price!", says the informal worker Luciene Aparecida Rodrigues.

Petrobras, the Brazilian oil state company, also announced an increase of almost 25% in the price of diesel and 16% of cooking gas.
